50 years in France – and still going!

When I first traveled to France as a student, I had no idea that I would end up here permanently. My French husband likes to tease me about coming to France to find a husband but I can assure you, dear readers, that it was the farthest thing from my mind. No, I just wanted to soak up French architecture and French culture and savour French food and learn the language. Of course French boys were cute. Hey ALL boys were cute. But then I met my Frenchman, Philippe, and he was more than cute. He was good-looking, well-educated and well-spoken, with a dry sense of humour that delighted and astonished me. It still delights and astonishes me.

Recently I was asked to write about my French life for a website appropriately called My French Life or Ma Vie Française and am happy to present the interview in the link below. Those of you who, like me, also ended up in France for whatever reason (job, spouse) may relate to some of what I say. Those of you who don’t relish the idea of living elsewhere will be happy that I did what I did but glad they didn’t have to endure all it takes to adjust to life in a foreign country. And those of you whose dream it is to live abroad may learn something from the adventures of one who had a similar dream – and lived it.
